The Lord Knows That I'm Trying

I am currently unemployed, and I have been searching for work since November 2009. I was receiving unemployment benefits, but at the end of May 2010 my benefits ended. In order for me to receive an extension of benefits from unemployment I had to file an appeal, and wait to be scheduled for a hearing, which normally takes 8-10 weeks. During this waiting period I have not received any funding at all. While I have been waiting for a hearing date I have now fell into financial hardships of the worst kind. I have tried to apply for government aid, but to no avail. I am behind on all of my bills by 2 months! I soon may become homeless due to the situation that I have described above. If there is any help that you, or anyone else that you may know, can provide regarding any openings for a 1 bedroom with a low income based housing within the east bay, or any openings for jobs please feel free to contact me. Thank you in advance for whatever help, or information that you can provide.

Sincerely,

Lord Knows I'm Trying

Need clothes for a job interview?

Here are some organizations that may be able to help

Dress for success ( women - international)

Career Gear  ( men - several locations throughout the US)

Bottomless Closet  ( women - chicago)

These organizations also offer additional assistance with job retention and career advancement. However, you will need a referral from a caseworker to receive services.

Also check with the sites and their affiliates for job openings as well.

About Terry55

I lost my job at the end of February.  We are a family of 5.  My wife is working.  Neither of our families can help us.  I have been working hard to find a job but nothing has come up yet. I have 2 interviews pending with a local hospital chain.  I am willing to accept any job and pay.   We have managed to cover most everything since then but now we are not able to make  our rent ( $1195/mo.). Rent and a job for me are our most pressing needs.

About april0771

I wanted to see if anyone can help.  We were living in NY and closed out my business due to a heart illness. I am a 37 year old mom with 3 children 13,10,5. Nobody expected me to have died and came back to life (my husband resusitated me on the kitchen floor) on our 16 wedding anniversary, August 19, 2005.  With all the stress, medical bills, and illness my husband and I closed the business and I claimed personal bankruptcy.  We decided to move to florida in december (with my aunts recommendation) for cheaper rents and to try and live a stress free life, to find regular jobs and to start over.  Too make a long story short, We now are here almost 4 months and cant find jobs, our savings is gone, and we are now selling what we can to make sure are rent and monthly bills are paid and feed our children of course.  I also can't even get health insurance in florida because health insurances do not have to insurance me because I have a precondition.  In NY they can't deny me insurance because of a precondition.  My aunt also had told me that this wouldn't be a problem, again she was incorrect. We send out resume after resume (maybe, because of the holiday) and go on interview after interview, yet we cant get a job.  Everyone seems to tell me it is because of the holiday, the economy or because we come from the north. My Husband has extensive experience in the construction industry but this industry is so slow now, that this may be a possibility. I have an associates degree in computer science yet it is hard to get into a good company.  It seems like you have to know someone to do so.  We made a big mistake to listen to my aunt not realizing how the job market is in florida and low income ratio.  My husband is now applying for work in Salem Massachusettes (this is a very familiar place to us) The income is great in Mass and there is many job availabilities even in the construction field.  Anyway to make a long story short, again our savings are depleted from security for our home rent, monthly expenses and over $3000.00 in moving expense to move here to begin with.  If there is anyone out their that can give a loan for moving expenses and rental expenses, we will pay it back as soon as we can get back on our feet.

Thank you so much for listening...Happy holidays and God Bless!!!

Sinking fast, need money or job help.

I am a single mother with one child at home.  I've been unemployed since February, and have exhausted my resources.  I have past due house and car payments.  I'm on unemployment and have had numerous interviews, which result in "Your qualifications are impressive but do not meet our needs at this time."  I've got over 25 years administrative experience but was at a fairly high salary level for my field when I was fired due to corporate reorganization.

Due to my age, my former salary level, the fact that I was fired, and who knows why else, I am having trouble finding work.  Any help would be appreciated.  My most urgent need is cash, to buy food and pay bills.

Thanks for looking.
